• The Paycheck Protection Program has closed, but there are legislative proposals to extend until August 8th. We’ll keep you posted on that. Look into the loan forgiveness process for PPP loans. Work with your lender to prepare that forgiveness application.
• Bayer CropScience has recently settled some glyphosate and dicamba cases. The company will set up a scientific panel over the next four years as a condition of their settlement. On dicamba products, the companies are still working through a new registration with EPA for those over-the-top products for soybeans.
• We are celebrating the USMCA taking effect today – agriculture put forth a lot of work to make sure that agreement was signed. Now it can be implemented.
• June 30th acreage report from NASS yesterday surprised some folks. We have been pushing AFBF to create a working group to address decreasing confidence with NASS. We also encouraged our FBACT members to give us feedback on the report.
• The Junior Livestock shows will occur this fall: September 11-13 (beef, sheep, pigmy goats, and rabbits). September 18-20 (swine, dairy, and meat goats). The Duquoin State Fair will also host a horse show in September.
