My project showcases the plight of the working class against the curtailing nature of the modern
bourgeoisie. It represents a dirtied workers hand reaching for a credit card, while being firmly
restrained by cleaner, brighter coloured hands. When a credit card is placed in a slot in the workers
fist, the light turns on, and the clear resin body shines brightly. The piece is stabilised by a steel
backing piece and base plate, which ensures that it cannot fall over or break. This steel is painted
silver, so it reflects the light outwards into the environment. The design has the benefit of making
the bourgeoisie feel like they are giving money to the working class without having the actual
transaction, and they are rewarded for the temporary disposal of their card. The light is powered via
a USB cable, which can be plugged into a wall, laptop, or mobile charger.
